TAFT TALK
We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

YOUTH BOARD
Everyone make sure that you check the youth board for things that will be coming up this summer. There are many events that we have scheduled and you will need to make sure that you incorporate them into your schedules. We will be doing a lot of traveling (big surprise, huh?), and we need as many of you to go on whatever you can so that we can do some great mission work and spread the Good News. Check the board and see Taft and Meleia with any questions that you might have.

SENIOR NIGHT
Everyone who is a senior in high school and plans to graduate needs to get in touch with me about our Graduate Recognition Night which is set to take place on Wednesday Night, May 24th. This will be a time to honor all of your hard work and labor. We need information sheets filled out and pictures turned in ASAP.

TENT MEETING ACTION:
The tent meeting is for all ages. We are going to make a special effort to get everyone that we know to come, right? Let’s make sure that the youth do their part in getting visitors here on our property to hear Stan Butt bring it and Josh Wyatt lead us in singing again this year. I cannot wait for this event, it is always so awesome. Pray, pray, pray for this event!!!

Much Love,
T

HOSPICE VOLUNTEER TRAINING
Dying can be a lonely time. By simply being a loving presence - holding a hand, reading out loud, listening to life stories, or playing some musical instruments, you can bring comfort and the warmth of companionship to a hospice patient’s last days. Please call Jo Sehar, volunteer coordinator, Crossroads Hospice, at 382-9292 for more information. The dates for Volunteer Training are Thursday, June 1st and Saturday, June 3rd

MEMORIALS
We received gifts in memory of Mrs. Lucille Brown from The Dyson Family of Eads, TN, Mr. & Mrs. H. D. Dyson of Amarillo, TX and Valeska Faircloth of Memphis.

EDIFICATION
FROM OUR
ELDERS

Betty and I were eating out the other day and we saw some old friends that we had gone to church with several years ago. As I was talking to them, I asked them where they were currently worshiping. To my surprise, they told me they were attending with a denomination. They are not the only people that I have talked to recently who have left the church. Some are going to different denominations and others are not going at all.

I am concerned about people like this and try to encourage them to attend services with us at Woodland Hills. I tell them how wonderful things are here with the hope that they will somehow have a desire to return to the church.

My main concern is for the congregation that meets here at Woodland Hills. Let me encourage each of you to prove your faith by comparing what you believe to what the scriptures say. According to Ephesians 4:14, we are to have a faith that is not tossed to and fro by everyday trials. Our faith should be strong so that in the years to come we will be firm in the faith and faithful to our Lord.

We should be concerned about our faith, short term and long term. In the book of Revelation we are told, "be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life."

At Woodland Hills it is the responsibility of the elders to see that only the truth is taught from the pulpit and in the classrooms. Then it is the responsibility of each member to search the scriptures to prove their own faith so that when trials and temptations come their way, they will stand firm in the faith.

If someone sees you out one day in about five years and asks you where you are worshiping, will you be able to say that you are faithful to Christ and His church?

For the Elders, Ronald Barker

What will you be doing May 19th-21st?

On Friday, May the 19th, there will be a unique feeling in the air. It will be the type of thing that comes to the Woodland Hills church of Christ annually. There will be a hint of anticipation as the empty tent sits on the pretty green stretch of property. There will be plenty of food that has been prepared and waiting on the guests. The stage will not yet be occupied and there will not be a preacher or song leader at the pulpit either.

The saints at the Woodland Hills church will be gathering in the early evening for their outreach and edification meeting known as the "tent meeting." There will be young and old there. The preacher will have driven from another part of Tennessee. He will give hugs and be greeted by those who have come to anticipate his coming each year. He will lead them in their studies of "GROWING LIKE JESUS GREW." All weekend long, it will be a great opportunity for growth and new spiritual heights. The fourth annual tent meeting will be a huge success. People will walk away feeling edified and uplifted. New souls may come to Christ.

The preacher will conclude his final sermon on Sunday night. He will bid many people farewell. After he heads home and the local people are left to do the local work, the congregation will think of him often. When thinking of the great tent meeting, many will reflect in various ways. "It wouldn’t be the same without him," some will be heard saying. My friend, the truth is..... IT WON’T BE THE SAME WITHOUT YOU!
