A GREAT TENT MEETING FOR 2006!!
We had a great meeting this year on the property of Woodland
Hills church of Christ. So many people worked so hard to make it a great event.
When we gathered a week before to door-knock, you could tell that there was an
excitement in the air from our local church family. I noticed many visitors at
our meeting. Aside from the public restorations that took place, one can only
hope that many hears were touched and inward conversions were underway.
I also noticed a spirit of servitude from the congregation.
There is an old saying that "20% of the congregation will do 80% of the work."
While the "regulars" still did their part to labor for the meeting, there was a
sense of complete participation with everyone involved. I saw people grabbing
extra flyers to pass out at the last minute, folks pushing carts across the
parking lot, little ones bringing chairs to the racks and people of all ages
encouraging and edifying one another.
Josh Wyatt and Dennis Sangster did an excellent
job leading us in our praises to God. Justin Brown, Denny Thomas, and
Joseph Jones really came through for us (with last minute notice) and ran
our sound system well. Stan Butt did an excellent job bringing us the
message with consistency and practicality. He mentioned receiving several
letters before the meeting that encouraged him regarding his trip here and
efforts with us. Let's not stop there, let's all drop him another line and thank
him for the outstanding job that he did.

EDIFICATION
FROM OUR
ELDERS
Congratulations to our high school
graduates, class of 2006. We give a special tribute to the following eight
students: Megan Fowler, Matt Mitchell, Amanda Lipsey, Kevin Knight, Preston
Pinson, Laura Krahl, Justin Brown, and Robby Caradine. You are all special to
us and we want you to know we love and appreciate each one of you.
We are pleased that you are a part of the family at Woodland
Hills. You are a good influence to your friends, classmates, and each one of
us. Our prayer is, you will always be a good influence to those around you.
During the part twelve years you have experienced many happy
and exciting times. As you continue your education you will be faced with many
challenges and opportunities. Choose wisely, putting God first in your life.
Set your standards high and work toward the goals you have chosen.
We read in Philippians 4:13 that we can do all things through
Christ who strengthens us. These are words you can depend on at all times. Our
strength indeed comes from above. Jesus kept increasing in wisdom, stature,
favor with God, and favor with man (Luke 2:52). It is our hope that you will
also keep growing in favor with God.
May your faith grow stronger each day as you are challenged
by your surroundings. "Without faith it is impossible to please him, for he
who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those
who seek him" (Heb. 11:6).
Wednesday night was an enjoyable time when the congregation,
along with your friends and family, came together to honor each of you in a
special way. This was a happy time enjoyed by all, and one you will always
remember.
Thank you for your participation in the tent meeting, and
helping to make it a success. The youth stepped in with the rest of the
congregation to do a great job in promoting this event. Your card writing,
door knocking, and personal telephone calls gave it that special touch that
was needed.
Again, thank you for being a part of the family at Woodland
Hills. We love you.
For the Elders, Charles Mars
