THE PERSONAL TOUCH

Vessels of clay...Salt...Fellowship...Visitation...Light...Teachers. It doesn’t make much difference how you word it. Jesus calls us to interact with other people. This is the only way his message can get out to those who need it. This is what it means to be a disciple.

Every day we meet believers and unbelievers. Jesus calls us to have a meaningful relationship with them all. At the shopping center. At the bank. At the cleaners. Wherever our lives touch others’ lives we are to be conscience of the fact that we are representing Jesus. Ambassador, if you please. One of the best things that you and I can learn is how to relate to every person we meet.

Open right now to 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 and read it for yourself. You’ll see that God says He reconciled us to Himself and gave US the ministry of reconciliation. This is just another way of saying that since God has forgiven us we must want every other person we meet to experience that same blessing.

How does one go about doing this? Well, a message as personal as the message of salvation can only be communicated though a real live person. One of the things we have lost in this age of technology is close touch with others. I recently phoned Delta Airlines to make a reservation. I must have pressed a dozen buttons before I got to a real, live human voice. It has been but a few years since you could talk with a Beth or Nancy about your reservation. In my most recent call, when I finally did hear this human voice, I said, "Thank you, young lady...it is so good to talk to a real person instead of a computer." I miss that personal contact.

What we must have today is the personal, human touch. We don’t need more newspaper ads, bigger signs or a louder preacher. What we need are men and women who have been saved, and are deeply grateful for their salvation, and will take time to genuinely relate to others. When God decided to communicate Himself to man, he didn’t do it through a billboard or a pamphlet. He sent His own dear Son, to tell us how much He loves us!

The real issue to this Have you been changed by Christ?  And if so, what are you doing to relate your life of forgiveness to others? This issue is not whether some church leader has given you an assignment. The issue is, How long has it been since you brought someone to worship with you? There is a time to pray for revival in the church. But again, how long has it been since YOU brought a lost soul to Jesus?

TAFT TALK
We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Outreach University
Our group (25 of them) did great at Outreach University.  It was great to see Noto at "his" congregation now.  He is very loved there and is doing a great work.  We were able to see many friends of ours from different youth groups and classes were very beneficial.  We need to thank all of the kids that went on this trip and all of the parents who allowed their children to make this trip.  I think that everyone who went got something out of it and was glad that they make the LONG trip!!

Devotional
We will be having a devotional at the home of Dennis and Annette Sangster on August 18th.  We need everyone (instead of bringing drinks or food) to bring $1.  We will be swimming (bring appropriate clothes) and eating as well as having our devo.  Maps will be available, but we plan to leave at 4:00 from the church building on the 18th.  Make an effort to bring your friends to this.  It will be a great way to kick off the school year.

BAPTIZED INTO WHAT?

It is so unfortunate that some people will not accept what the Bible teaches concerning things.  The religious world has a hard time accepting what the Bible teaches on many subjects.  This is why they create their own laws, by-laws, creeds, etc.  Most, if not all denominations now strongly teach the baptism is non-essential in becoming a Christian.  If you are one of those who feel this way, please study very carefully the following Scriptures.  I know that the Bible does teach that baptism is essential for salvation.  The Bible affirms that:

WE ARE BAPTIZED INTO HIS NAME, i.e. CHRIST
Study the following verses: Acts 8:16; Matthew 28:19-20
A. We are baptized into His name, where there is:
    a. Remission of sins (Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16)
    b. Salvation in Him (Christ) and in no other (Acts 4:12)
    c. The greatest of any relationship one can have (Philippians 2:8-9)

WE ARE BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH
Study Romans 6:3-5
A. We are baptized into His death, where:
    a. The blood of Christ was shed (John 19:34; cf. 1 John 1:7)
    b. There is remission of sins (Matthew 26:28)

WE ARE BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST
Study Galatians 3:27
A. We are baptized into Christ, where:
    a. One is a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17)
    b. There is redemption (Ephesians 1:7)
    c. All spiritual blessings are (Ephesians 1:3)
    d. There is forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7)

WE ARE BAPTIZED INTO THE BODY OF CHRIST
Study 1 Corinthians 12:13
A. We are baptized into his body, i.e. the church, where:
    a. One is in the one and only true church the Bible speaks of (Ephesians 4:4)
    b. One is under the proper head (Ephesians 1:22)
    c. There is fullness of joy (Ephesians 1:23)
    d. One is part of the body (the church) and is saved (Ephesians 5:23)
    e. One is in the church (Colossians 1:18)
    f. One is in the greatest family of all - God's family (1 Timothy 3:15)

You cannot reject these truths just mentioned and get to heaven.  To become a Christian you must be baptized into His name, into His death, into Christ, and the body of Christ.
