Sunday, August 12, 2007 Volume 51, Issue 31 THE PERSONAL TOUCH Vessels of clay...Salt...Fellowship...Visitation...Light...Teachers. It doesn’t make much difference how you word it. Jesus calls us to interact with other people. This is the only way his message can get out to those who need it. This is what it means to be a disciple. Every day we meet believers and unbelievers. Jesus calls us to have a meaningful relationship with them all. At the shopping center. At the bank. At the cleaners. Wherever our lives touch others’ lives we are to be conscience of the fact that we are representing Jesus. Ambassador, if you please. One of the best things that you and I can learn is how to relate to every person we meet. Open right now to 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 and read it for yourself. You’ll see that God says He reconciled us to Himself and gave US the ministry of reconciliation. This is just another way of saying that since God has forgiven us we must want every other person we meet to experience that same blessing. How does one go about doing this? Well, a message as personal as the message of salvation can only be communicated though a real live person. One of the things we have lost in this age of technology is close touch with others. I recently phoned Delta Airlines to make a reservation. I must have pressed a dozen buttons before I got to a real, live human voice. It has been but a few years since you could talk with a Beth or Nancy about your reservation. In my most recent call, when I finally did hear this human voice, I said, "Thank you, young lady...it is so good to talk to a real person instead of a computer." I miss that personal contact. What we must have today is the personal, human touch. We don’t need more newspaper ads, bigger signs or a louder preacher. What we need are men and women who have been saved, and are deeply grateful for their salvation, and will take time to genuinely relate to others. When God decided to communicate Himself to man, he didn’t do it through a billboard or a pamphlet. He sent His own dear Son, to tell us how much He loves us! The real issue to this Have you been changed by Christ? And if so, what are you doing to relate your life of forgiveness to others? This issue is not whether some church leader has given you an assignment. The issue is, How long has it been since you brought someone to worship with you? There is a time to pray for revival in the church. But again, how long has it been since YOU brought a lost soul to Jesus? Ken Joines

BAPTIZED INTO WHAT? It is so unfortunate that some people will not accept what the Bible teaches concerning things. The religious world has a hard time accepting what the Bible teaches on many subjects. This is why they create their own laws, by-laws, creeds, etc. Most, if not all denominations now strongly teach the baptism is non-essential in becoming a Christian. If you are one of those who feel this way, please study very carefully the following Scriptures. I know that the Bible does teach that baptism is essential for salvation. The Bible affirms that: WE ARE BAPTIZED INTO HIS NAME, i.e. CHRIST WE ARE BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH WE ARE BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST WE ARE BAPTIZED INTO THE BODY OF CHRIST You cannot reject these truths just mentioned and get to heaven. To become a Christian you must be baptized into His name, into His death, into Christ, and the body of Christ.
